NUNEATON CHARITIES BENEFIT FROM GIVEAWAY WORTH ALMOST £900 IN LATEST ROUND OF HELPING HEARTS PLEDGES
Charities and worthy causes in Nuneaton have benefited from a cash giveaway worth almost £900.
The Camp Hill Community Football Team, Whitestone Guides, Bedworth Arts Centre, British Heart Foundation and Diners Delight in Camp Hill, were among the causes to benefit from pledges ranging from £20 to £350 from the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Helping Hearts Award Scheme.
The football team will use its £350 to buy new equipment. The Whitestone Guides, which this year marks its centenary, will use its £100 towards ongoing celebrations and Diners Delight will use its £150 towards a new freezer, which will allow co-ordinators to buy food in bulk and make home-made meals for their over 50s luncheon club.
Jo Dyke, Community and Membership Adviser at the Heart of England Co-operative Society, said: “Once again we have had a number of applications for a good mix of groups and of course we are delighted to do what we can to help those groups.
“In the last few weeks we have donated £20 to the British Heart Foundation which held a quiz night and raffle, and we gave £250 to the Bedworth Arts Centre towards art materials for a summer school for children. There is so much good work going for the benefit of a wide range of groups across our community and we are pleased our Helping Hearts Award Scheme – which donates every penny of our tobacco profits to charities and worthy causes – can do so much to support it.”
Anyone who would like to make an application for a donation from Helping Hearts can pick up an application form from any one of the Society’s branches across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
