HEART OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE DEPARTED WITH MEMORIAL TREES

The first Christmas following the death of a loved one can be a heartbreaking time of year for those left behind.

With this in mind, families who have lost someone are being invited to place tributes on remembrance trees placed in branches of the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Funeral Division.

Families of the deceased have received letters inviting them to compose a message on a small card which will then be hung on the memorial Christmas tree at funeral homes throughout the region.

It is the fourth year the Heart of England Co-operative Funeral Services has held the initiative.

Darryl Smith, General Manager of the Funeral Division at the Heart of England Co-operative Society says the act of remembrance can be a tremendous source of comfort to grieving families.

He said: “We know it’s a difficult time and it’s great to see people find solace and hope from the memorial tree.

“We want them to come in, place their tribute and perhaps have a cup of tea or coffee and a bit of a chat to our staff.

“Our service doesn’t end with the funeral and we are delighted if we can offer even a little bit of comfort.

“The feedback we received last year was tremendous and it’s good to know that this simple gesture is such a source of comfort to those facing their first Christmas without someone who was once so important to them.

"The Christmas tree was welcomed by the families, who felt it was a fitting gesture and really helped them.”

The invite is sent to the families of clients that the Heart of England Co-operative Funeral Services had carried out funerals for over the past year.

Families or individuals can return the tag through the post or visit the funeral home and hang their tag in person.

Memorial trees can be found at the following funeral homes:

38 Bilton Road, Rugby, 52 Warwick Street, Royal Leamington Spa, 34 Central Avenue, Nuneaton, Kings Walk, Earl Shilton, 11 Lower Holyhead Road, Coventry, 184 Ansty Road, Coventry, 10 High Street, Bedworth, and Gilliver’s Funeral Service, 20 Church Road, Barlestone.
