NEW BUYING GROUP PAVES THE WAY FOR THE SOCIETY TO COMPETE AGAINST ELECTRICAL GIANTS

The Heart of England Co-operative Society´s electrical division of stores have taken a giant leap forward this year in joining forces with the Co-op Electrical Buying Group.

By joining the group, customers can now choose from a much wider range of electrical goods from stock, from TVs to toasters and from fridges to Freeviews, all at competitive prices.

It also allows the Society to offer more promotions and deals through volume purchases and end of line specials.

As well as a wider range of stock, there will also be higher levels of stock availability, resulting in a faster, more efficient service for customers.

The range of products will be under constant review and new lines will be regularly added.

This new venture will allow the Society to deliver the goods to customers more quickly and believes it will put the Society on a par with electrical giants such as Currys and Comet.

As part of the new service, the Society is putting computers into all electrical departments allowing staff to process orders simply at the click of a button.

The Society believes it will see a significant increase in sales by constantly monitoring best selling brands and keeping high levels in stock to ensure the Society remains competitive.

Ali Kurji, Chief Executive of the Society, said: “The new buying arrangement will be of tremendous benefit to our customers and ourselves. Not only will customers be able to choose from a vast range of top-brand products they will see a more efficient service which will give them greater value for money.

“It will also help us establish ourselves as one of the top electrical retailers in the area.

“We believe that by procuring goods in this way, the Society and our customers are in a win-win situation.”

Peter Marks, Chief Executive of The Co-operative Group, said: “We are delighted Heart of England has joined our electrical buying group, which is going from strength to strength. Pushing our annual sales above £100m for the first time also allows us to offer even better deals for our customers, and firmly underlines our position as a major electrical buying group.”
