EASY ACCESS LEADS TO INCREASE IN CUSTOM FOR CITY CENTRE POST OFFICE
A Coventry city centre post office has reported an increase in custom since the closure of the nearby Hertford Street branch last month.
Staff at the post office, situated in the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Rooms of Coventry store, say they have seen an increase in footfall from people looking to pay bills, through to renewing their car tax, to collecting their pensions.
And they say there is still some disgruntlement over the closure of the post office among customers – many of whom say they backed the long-running petition in a bid to keep the facility open.
Kath Ashley, Manager of the branch, in Corporation Street, said: “We have taken in many of the Hertford Street Post Office’s customers since its closure a few weeks ago.
“Although we are in a different part of the city centre to the old Crown post office we still offer the full range of services that Hertford Street offered, and our post office is at ground floor level of the four-storey Rooms of Coventry store.”
