Having just completed another
successful year - our twelfth
successive year of trading profit - this
shows just how far the Society has
come since its inception more than
170 years ago.
In fact who would have believed way
back in the early part of the 19th
century - when a group of ribbon
weavers from Lockhurst Lane, near
Coventry, formed our original
Co-operative Society - the
foundations were being laid for what
is today, in the 21st century, one of
the most successful retail
co-operative societies in the UK.
The Heart of England Co-operative
difference can be demonstrated in
many ways but perhaps the most
fundamental difference between your
Society and other major national
retailers is that we are entirely local.
With around 975 employees, we are
one of the largest and most successful
employers within the Coventry,
Warwickshire and south
Leicestershire areas.
